Yellow Banks to be revived by summer

SELVIN — When Jason Powers imagines Yellow Banks Lake this summer, he imagines it restored to its former glory, with swimming, camping and its old famous ice cream.

To people in Warrick County and beyond, Yellow Banks Lake is an institution. It’s the backdrop to decades of memories made with family and friends.

Yellow Banks former recreation center now under new ownership

Yellow Banks Lake, formerly Yellow Banks Recreation Center, is now under new ownership. Jason Powers, the new owner of the property, and his family broke ground on the property on April 5.

Powers said he and his family purchased a cabin on the property before they were aware of the “larger opportunity.”

“Just in the short time I had in that cabin, I just fell in love with the area and saw the potential here and then found out about the larger opportunity and jumped on it,” he said. “It was definitely not on my radar 12 months ago.” CONTINUE READING…

WARRICK CO., Ind. (WFIE) – A groundbreaking was held Monday morning for Yellow Banks Recreation in Warrick County.

Organizers say Yellow Banks was a community tradition known for their recreation site, including swimming, camping, shows, and more.

”Five days fresh here from Colorado. Moved here and decided to, we purchased this Yellow Banks area, about 170 acres. To revitalize it and bring it back to its former glory. It was once a very popular camping area, recreation area, big swim beach and famous for its ice cream, craft fairs, lots of different functions,” Jason Powers, the new owner of Yellow Banks said.
